There’s something magical about how part of the animal world disappears underground for the winter. As I walk around in those bleak, cold months I always wonder what life must be like down there – a whole other world of creatures going about their hibernation.
At the moment, here in New England, the squirrels and chipmunks are working overtime, stockpiling for the winter. My three year old made special squirrel food from different seeds with her pre-school class the other day and brought home a bag for us to share with our local bushy-tailed creatures. Soon, snow will lie thick on the ground and our dear friends will have disappeared.
Here’s a tell-tale hole I found in the woods. Use it to inspire you today and, as ever, don’t feel the need to take the image literally – let your imagination carry you where it will.
