Newspaper headlines, photographs, captions and articles have often inspired my stories. The real world is ripe with ideas ready to pluck and turn into fiction. The other day, when browsing through the BBC News website, I came across an article about a seven year old girl who had got through all the security checks at Geneva Airport by following strangers and slipping past officials. She was about to get on the plane when she was finally found out. This story immediately got my imagination whirring. Who was she? Where were her parents? Why did she do it? How did she manage to go undetected for so long – and what if she’d managed to get on the plane?
Take this prompt I’ve created, inspired but the newspaper article, and write for five minutes, seeing where it takes you. Don’t feel bound by the original story, just follow your imagination.
Happy writing! 💫🖋
