I walk nearly every day. It’s my form of meditation and it’s part of writing too. It clears all those cobwebs clogging my thoughts and feelings and it often provides inspiration and new ideas.
A few years ago, while I was walking around the grounds of a boarding school where I lived and worked in the UK, I took this photograph. Locks and doors are wonderful writing prompts because they immediately beg questions such as:
- Why is the door locked?
- Who is hidden behind the door?
- What is hidden behind the door?
- Who last locked the door?
- What would happen were someone to break the lock?
And so on…
So, today, look at this door and this lock and just write, anything that comes to mind, five minutes non-stop (or longer, of course).
Happy writing! 💫
